[ Evelyn Martin ] Evelyn was aborn in Chicago, Illinois. While growing up, she was able to visit the Chicago Art Institute which inspired her to start learning more about the different phases of art.

Evelyn became interested in actually painting from several television shows, teaching oils and pastels. She especially enjoys painting people now, but has also completed many landscapes with her pastels.

Art Education

Although mostly self taught, Evelyn has taken workshops from Mary Wyatt, Mart Zabazzlie in pastel work while living in California. She belonged to the Santa Clara Art Club in Santa Clara, California and exhibited widely thoughout the area and sold her works. She also won awards while exhibiting her works there.

Since moving several years ago to Cottage Grove, she has set aside her pastels for the time being and has been taking oil painting classes from Ross Hancock and Bob Niems at the Cottage Grove Community Center.

Evelyn is a member of the Cottage Grove Art Guild and has shown in the guild's former gallery in the Cottage Grove Community Center. You can see her work now in the Main Street Art Gallery, as well as the guild's Village Green and the Cottage Grove Hospital art displays.
